Weeping for joy

Last night Mallory slept through the night!... well, probably only an insomniac would call a 5 a.m. wakeup call 'through the night'... but it was close enough for me. I'm not stupid enough to expect this to continue on a regular basis... but even as a one-off... it was lovely!!!

I'm headed out to the garden right now to get some work done. Our neighbour complained about the pine tree that was encroaching on the property line this week, and we wound up having it taken down. This makes the third large tree we have cut down since moving here six years ago. So much for liking our neighbourhood on account of the trees! (None of them were by choice: one was decided for us by the city, and the other was wreaking havoc with our sewer system). Anyway, there is a small mountain of mulch in the driveway that I am trying to get spread around the yard before it turns into any more of a mess. You'll recall that our yard started to take a turn for the worse a couple of years ago - a story documented here - and let's just say two years later, it's that much worse. Our neighbours next door are avid gardeners and are putting us to shame. So the mulch assault, plus neighbourly disdain, plus a good night's sleep is all combining to give me a much-needed push out the door to get some work done.

I think she really looks like Suri here! I guess cause her hair looks darker.
