Indian summer

Yesterday we spent the morning getting packed up and schlepped out to the pool (a 20 minute drive) only to find it closed on account of a mechanical issue. It served us right - I had questioned whether we should be swimming this week anyway, given how nice it is outside and how it's unlikely to last... i.e. shouldn't we have been doing something outdoors to take advantage of the weather instead? I guess the answer was YES. (Megan, I bet if your pool is still open right now that you are THRILLED.) We did get one last summery hurrah when Chad took us out for ice cream after dinner last night, so the day wasn't a complete writeoff, but...

Today, rather than going to the Early Years Centre or doing anything else indoors (aside from a brief errand-running trip) we are doing NOTHING. We spent some time this morning walking around our block and blowing bubbles in our back yard, and before his nap Liam requested a trip to the park this afternoon. Dinner is already put together in the crockpot so there is no need for us to stick around the house once the kids are up. Well, there is the one issue of having a houseful of people over on Sunday, and really, I should be cleaning, but - how often is it this nice out in October? Sorry guests, you've been superceded by the park. Please ignore the dust bunnies when you get here.
