Roseola!

Yep, we have a sickie in the house. Two weeks ago we met up with my cousin Kelly and her kids. A couple of days later, she called to let me know that Jason had Roseola... i.e.... the dreaded "you've been exposed" call. Sure enough, Liam wasn't acting like himself and felt sort of hot on Saturday night. On Sunday he seemed OK again, but yesterday his fever spiked and by last night he had spots all over. They intensified today but now seem to be waning. You really can't see them in this photo unless you're zoomed in at 100% - they're not spots like the chicken pox - more of a faint allover rash, sort of like prickly heat. Anyway, the spots mark the end of the illness, so all is well again. I did have to make some "you've been exposed" calls of my own today, and the bad news is that we will have to lie low for the next couple of weeks - Mallory doesn't seem to have picked the bug up from Jason, but she and Liam are all over each other - she might have caught it the second time around.

Ack!!!! That stinks, glad he is doing better though! Hopefully Mallory will pass too!

I love that shot, sort of looks like he is giving you the thumbs up, as if to say, "I'm okay, ma!"

Sorry that my child shared the pink rash with yours. Funny, I don't even remember Liam being anywhere near Jason. Hope Liam came off the end of the sickness OK. "The books" say that the irritability is to be present with the fever, but Jason was a BEAST! all day Friday and Saturday morning. Thankfully he had returned to his happy little self when he woke up from his afternoon nap.
We were at Mom's on the weekend & she has shingles- her doctor told her it was not likely that the kids would get Chicken Pox from her unless they actually came in contact with her spots. Sydney is vaccinated, but Jason doesn't go for his shot until 15 months. I would not be surprised if he gets them. I think he is going to be our child to always get whatever is going around. Fingers crossed we aren't dealing with that soon.
