Road trip

Came home from our road trip last night. Liam was, for the most part, a joy to be with the entire time. Really adds to my comfort level in terms of getting out with him. We flew by the seat of our pants for a couple of days and all was well. Left early Tuesday morning after watching the shuttle land (what, you think we would watch it take off but not watch it come back??) Liam slept the whole way to London where we made a few stops. Stocked up on some really cute summer clothes for him for next year at Old Navy. I even found him a t-shirt identical to one that Chad has - and it was marked down to $1.99 - of course I had to buy it! Fed him in the back seat of the car in the Homesense parking lot without incident. :) Next travelled to Waterloo (Kitchener? - I don't know where one ends and the other begins) to visit my Aunt Joan and the whole Danbrook family. Liam slept the whole way there as well. He did get a little overtired during our visit, but Joan was able to soothe him right down - must be the years of maternity ward experience coming in handy!! We spent most of the afternoon with the Danbrooks, then went back to Stratford to my parents', where they were anxiously waiting to get their hands on the little guy. I thought it would be fine for Liam and I to share a bed, but he woke up around 3 a.m. and noticed me there and decided it was social time again, so we were up for a couple of hours. Which really sucked, coming after a week of sleeping through the night. We managed to sleep in a little to compensate for it, and then my cousin Kelly and Liam's second-cousin-once-removed (we think), Miss Sydney, came for a visit:

Lest you think Sydney is a bully in these pics, she was actually just trying to give Liam a hug and a kiss, and he freaked a little. I really think the shy side of his personality is coming out these days.

It's been a long, long time since we have seen the Danbrooks and Kelly both, and I/we had never met Sydney before (she's a year old next month) - so the visits were well overdue and hopefully, it won't take so long for it to happen again. It's interesting with someone like Kelly/Sydney who's a few months ahead of where we are - there's lots to be learned there. (Like which areas of their house my parents need to babyproof when Liam starts crawling!)

Liam slept the entire way home, which was great for driving, but which may have led to his waking up AGAIN last night for an hour or so. Sheesh. The little monkey did accomplish, upon arriving home, his second roll over from back to front - this one completely unbribed/unassisted/unaided. And he repeated it this morning. Go Liam!! Today is being devoted almost entirely to getting him back on track and hopefully ready to sleep through the night tonight. And as soon as he's down for his nap, I intend to get the tack out and start doing up our house for Halloween. :)
